(applause) >> she recently had a birthday party at her second home, the southeast community center, and it was hundreds of people there, several hundred because people -- she had it from 3:00 to 8:00. i brought the whole family. we had an opportunity to take a photo op with her, and i will be selling that on ebay. jackson. you might recognize this name. it is actually the son of ruth jackson. wenzel was born june 15th, 1956 and was raised in san francisco visitacion valley community. he's a graduate of woodrow wilson high school and participated in team sports such as tennis and softball. he worked at merrill lynch 15 years where he developed his management skills and later left corporate life to pursue his calling in pastoral ministry. he leaves behind to cherish his memory his best friend and his loving wife tamara hall man jackson, his parents of washington, d.c., and ruth jackson, also affectionately known as polly. she's a leader right here in our own visitacion valley community. he left behind four brothers, brian, drew, james, and lorenzo and one brother-in-law, raphael who resides in hollywood, california. so, please join me in lifting up our dear friend and sister ruth jackson as she mourns the loss of one of her children. on another note, another sad note, i also want to lift up another mother of the bayview community that has lost her son. many of you know ms. espinola jackson. she rece

was espinola jackson. i've been doing city hall stuff and working on sfpuc issues for about the last decade, which is much less than dr. jackson has been working on similar issues. she's been doing it for several decades. and over the decade that i've worked on issues like making sure that we don't bring in the new peaker natural gas plants issues like closing down the morant plant, issues around the bayview hunters point shipyard candlestick development on top of the superfund site, and myriad other issues around the southeast and the entire city when it comes to environmental protection and getting good low-cost clean energy to the public. espinola jackson has always been around. i'm bumping into her constantly. i wish she was here to hear it. her contribution to the city process is profound -- has been profound. and so i not only would want to lionize dr. jackson, but just to say that even though dr. jackson has helped solve many problems like getting rid of the last power plant and stopping a new one from coming in and without her we probably would have never accomplished those goals. b
